A note from Dr. Shah

Parents often worry most about fevers, and that is understandable. In most children a fever is the body fighting a viral infection, and it settles within a few days. At each visit I check hydration, breathing, ears and throat, and record weight, height and milestones so we can see the trend over time. We follow the Indian Academy of Pediatrics vaccination schedule and send a reminder a week before each dose. I prescribe antibiotics only when there is a clear bacterial cause, and I always explain the warning signs that mean you should bring your child back the same day.
